Angel Bear

Okay, so I am sick of blogger's save button sitting right next to the publish  button... even the bright orange button doesn't win over post staying in draft mode! Thank you Shirley-Anne for the heads up!
This week at Card Crafter's Circle we invite you to create cards on the theme of Teddybears.  Our team were really lucky with sponsor images to showcase for you, because our sponsor STAMP ART DESIGN BY KATHRYNE has such a wonderful selection of bears that will delight! Kathryne creates images covering so many themes, and they are so very cute too! You can find SADK designs here in the Whimsy Shop...

My creation for you this week uses Beary Heart Angel  and it was a winner for me .... another 'must have' image.  But I'll tell you about my card first!

It is a CAS card (obviously) with simple layering and single colour matting to accentuate the image. Bear is coloured with Aqua Promarkers, and the hearts are filled with glitter pen.  The hem of her robe is ClearStar glitter pen. The background of both the layer image and sentiment (How sweet is that sentiment! appropriate credit will be added when I confirm it's creator!) have been clouded with pearly chalk, in keeping with the angel's robe and wings.  Finally, champagne rhinestones have been added at top and bottom.

I wanted the colour scheme of this card to be pale, almost calico-like, but found that the markers I had in that colour weren't right for the cardstock. So things are leaning towards the apricot and terracotta spectrum.

My whole inspiration for this card, and using this image, was because the Beary Heart Angel image reminds me so dearly of this wee angel bear that my beloved aunt Celia made.  Over a number of years, my aunt Celia hand-crafted the most beautiful bears and angels (and then angel-bears) to give as gifts at Christmas.  She started making only a few, for a select number of people (her precious treasures, she called us) but every year, the number of those creations grew! Sadly Aunt Celia passed late last year, after a long illness that did not win over her, she left on her terms when she was ready... and it was not before finishing her year's worth of angels for Christmas.

My collection of angels and bears (and angel-bears!) have pride of place on a wall near my piano, and collection of family photos.

This creation is also entered into challenges here:

Dear Pauline...You have brought a special meaning to this image and I thank you very much for choosing Beary Heart Angel and sharing your inspiration. Your aunt sounds like she was a very special woman who loved you very much. Her teddy angels are adorable, gorgeous and beautiful. She did lovely craftsmanship. I love teddy bears! There can never be too many teddy bears. This one that she made is precious. It's an honour that you chose this image. Thank you. It's always a pleasure to sponsor for your challenges. xx Kathy
