A Titanic Challenge!

This week at Glitter Geeks, we challenge you to create with a NAUTICAL theme... being that it's the 100th anniversary of the Titanic.

I chose to create a stitched card - not having a nautical bell, I created a pattern for myself, and added the name Titanic and the year, as so many replica bells show.  I'm not a Titanic fantatic, so I am not au fait with the the particular details of items that were lost (or found) with the ship. (Ask me about tall ships etc on the southern coast of Australa in the 1700-1800s, that's a different story!)

Anyhoo.... here is my square card creation!  I've used DCWV textured card to create the base, and the layers.  I wanted to keep neutral colours to so as not to overshadow the bell... normally my nautical creations are blue and white, or gunmetal blue!

After stitching the image, I fixed the layers together, and added champagne coloured rhinestones to the top corners.  Still thinking that the card/image was too stark, I set to colouring with chalks... blending yellows, and browns, hoping to achieve a brassy gold colour.

My shipmates on the Design Team have a marvelous display of nautical creations for you, so do come by and visit us at the Glitter Geeks Blog.  I hope that you'll find your sea legs, and join in with us in our Nautical Challenge this week.... thanks for peepin'!
