Looney in absentia...

I'm sorry that I haven't been around this past weed... it has been crazier than crazy.  We've finally got surgery scheduled for my daughter, after messed up schedules, test results, and various trips out of town. It's not time efficient or fun when the hospital and surgeons are out of town (several hundred kilometres), and when they have no concept of distance or special needs... they seem to think that we can appear at their hospital at their convenience, and at any time without preparation....yeah right!

We leave tomorrow, and hope to be back on Wednesday, all things being well.

We've also had news that Dad's new and ongoing treatment can 't be done locally (well, inside 150kms). Oh no.  Instead, he has to travel to Sydney.  Interstate.  Which means a couple of hours in a car, and a plane flight.   All because of hospital bureaucracy, where any post side-effects would mean he has to pay $6,000 for a room. So much for the health system.  The rich get what they need, and the less-financial get stiffed without treatment.  I don't believe that ANY hospital can okay the treatment, but refuse post treatment care. Mind you, they will take on the follow up and continued tests!  So much for a supposed Christian - I guess it just shows that our health system is all based on the dollar, and not about patient care.

Off my soapbox now... I need my morning coffee.  Have a blessed Sunday, everyone!

Oh dear Pauline, I'm sorry to hear of your families health issues, hope your dad is better soon. Healthcare is a bone of contention for a lot of countries, we are so lucky here in the U.K to have the wonderful NHS - yes we pay for it in taxes, and I'm always grateful for the service they provide.
Take care xx
