Tea Party Under a Halloween Moon

I've always loved Tea Parties.  And Garden Parties.  Growing up as a child I would accompany my grandmother to garden parties and tea parties, and coffee parties, held at people's homes for charity fundraisers and church social gatherings.... and I loved them. I think they are something that seems to have been brushed aside in time, but definitely something to re-invent and re-live again.... the social nature of the events were wonderful to experience ... breaking bread together, meeting new friends, old friends, and enjoying tea, coffee and cake! And those wee sandwiches.....

Now....to celebrate Halloween in blogland, Anna at Frosted Petunias is hosting a Tea Party under a Halloween Moon... and aye, t'is a full moon out tonight!

Instead of dabbling in the paperarts for my offering at the tea party, I decided that since ladies would traditionally wear hats at tea parties, I created a hat.  And since we're neath a Halloween Moon, it should be a Halloween Hat..... I've named it Batty Hattie.

Okay, I wouldn't wear it to a tea party, I'd choose something floppy and flowery, but you might see me in it at the pub on Friday night!  It will adorn my craftroom. The hatband is black feather fluff and tuille, and the bats are padded bat shapes with pompoms.... a few rhinestones are dotted around (I've turned the hatband around so that it would photograph).

And I couldn't help but dabble with some beads, so I created a stranded crystal necklace for Aunt Jet (Practical Magic) and a bracelet.  The necklace is of glass and crystal, some with Aurora Borealis coating, and the bracelet is of coloured tumble polished glass .... some of you may have been at the Practical Magic Blog Party, hosted last month by Frosted Petunias as well.  I did, and believe it or not, I STILL haven't visited everyone at the party yet, there were so many!  Anyway,  I would also like to share my offering for that party, since they also fit here.... if you'd like to peep at my Practical Magic post, this link will take you back in time... to September 25th, at least!

I'm not really a traditional tea drinker (no Earl Grey, English Breakfast or Orange Pekoe for me - I like slightly obscure teas, like Green tea, Ginger root, Jasmine, Lapsang Souchong, and Oolong. My vice is coffee - in many forms. And lots of it.  So I thought I should ward off any sign of Full Moon Fever by looking for some "potions".... and I found a Full Moon Fever Cocktail ..... actually I found many variations and different drinks with the same name, but these are the ones I thought I'd like to try!

Moon Fever Cocktail
1 oz Midori Melon Liqueur                          2 oz Coconut Rum
1 oz Light Rum                                            1/2 oz Spiced Rum
1 dash Sweet and Sour Mix (Fill to Top)      Pineapple Juice
Add the three rums and the midori in highball glass with ice. Add a little sour mix for flavor and fill the rest with pineapple juice. It's a nice light green color. Garnish with a pineapple wedge and a cherry.

I think it sounds great, but I haven't tried it yet.... any way, the next drink I found, I thought sounded even better....

Chocolate Full Moon
50mL (2 Measures) Tequila
25 mL (1 Measure) Crème De Cacao - Brown (Dark is best)
25 mL (1 Measure) Cream
Pour all the ingredients into a shaker with ice and shake. Strain into a martini glass. Garnish with chocolate shaving if desired.

This'un reminds me of a Brandy/Whisky Alexander..... yum yum!

For some more halloweenie goodness, I have another post Full Moon Fever which shares some papercrafting, and some things about how my family celebrates Halloween, given that we don't celebrate Halloween (if that makes sense)....  you might like to visit.
If you're visiting the Tea Party Participants in alphabetical order, your next stop is at Michele's Nook and Cranny. If not, you'll find a full list of all of us at Frosted Petunias.  Enough of my ramblings! Thanks for visiting, and do leave a comment to let me know you've been here.... that way I can pop on by and visit you too!  Don't for get to leave comments at the others you visit along the way.....

I absolutely love the hat. I would wear it all over the house. And the drinks I will have to make sure to copy the recipes. Both sound scrumptious.
I could use one after all this flying around.
Please stop by for a spell and some magical tea party fun
