Time for Midnight Margaritas!

Welcome to my little broom in the Practical Magic Blog Party! Like the other 'witches' here, Practical Magic is one of my favourite movies. Love it. And happy days, it 'appened to be on telly last weekend (although I have it on DVD!) Of course daughter and I watched it and took delight in dancing round the lounge at the appropriate scenes! It also has a special place in my heart because it was the first movie my husband (of now 10 years) saw.... our second date.  Sssshhh, don't tell anyone, but we met via a self-inflicted Practical Joke... as a lark I put an add in a singles magazine.... it cost me $5.00, and as soon as I read G's letter, I knew it was him.... before I looked at his photo, or even met him.  And he purchased the magazine ONLY because the one he wanted at the time wasn't available while he was holidaying at a small seaside town!  How's that!  Practically Magic, I say....

My litle 'homage' to the splendiferous-ness of this movie is twofold.....the first takes the form of a journal book/scrapbook ... sadly a little incomplete - I show here only some completed pages, others need a bit of dazzle, and I have purposely left pages blank to fill in after the blog party event. These pages will record 'what the blog party was about' and also list the blogs of all the participants.... and there is a lot of them... US! Here is my cover (doesn't she look and dance likeGilly) and an inner page of "The House"...
Oh... all the journal pics are two photos stitched together to be more blog friendly....

The second is a collection of jewellery I have made, inspired by the movie. I love vintage, and in all honesty, my favourite characters in the movie are the Aunts (I've loved Stockard Channing since I saw her in Grease, in the 70s (while I was wearing my kid jammies in the family stationwagon at the drive-in, with mum and dad!), and Diane Wiest is such a delightfully serene and graceful soul, she just rocks!) They looked fab in the movie, I loved their clothes, and have taken inspiration from them.
Here is "The Letter" Sally wrote, with a locket I made from brass findings, and olive pearls.  On the right is a creation of silver, with purple glass pearls and crystal bicones.

The scrapbook contains photos and quotes from the movie, as well as inspirational graphics and words I found on the internet.  Here is a necklace inspired by one of Aunt Jet's dresses... a string of Pink Champagne Pearls with Aurora Borealis  Crystal Bicones, with a silver Pearl  vintage clasp. I can see her wearing this one....

Finally, a page with a recipe for "Love"... this brass necklace is inspired by the herbs and garden goodies our witchy women use in their potions.... and lotions.  Also, the final words of the movie.... a wonderful blessing for anyone at anytime, but a fitting end to my inspiration journal.  The bracelet I made is of amethyst stone, on copper.  I love my base metals, and working with copper.  Witches are close to the earth, and this bracelet makes me feel a little closer too.

For a full listing of witches and women at the blog party, please visit the Anna And Justina at the host's table....there are over 200 at the party!  WOW... Women ROCK! I  hope you've enjoyed your visit with me on this wonderful broom-ride across the bloggy cosmos. Enjoy the rest of your ride, and goodness always..... and remember..... "Hold on to your Husbands"!
