#62 Paint the Town Red

Is anyone still reeling from Valentines Day? It passes without too much fuss in our house... anyway, this week our themed challenge at the Card Crafter's Circle is a colour challenge, and our chosen colour is RED!   We are happily sponsored by Digi Darla's Designs... and my creation follows below...  I had to pick this sweet 'heart' flower... and stitch it...I know, I have a thing for flowers! And I'm pretty obsessed with stitching too....

I printed the image and trimmed it to fit my card base (allowing for some matting as well).  I had firmly decided to stitch the outer edge of the flower, the stitch-line heart, and the stitch-line leaves.  But I wanted to add a little bit of colour, so I first coloured the background floral pattern with marker, then the centre heart with glitter pen.  I also added marker for the stem.  When all was completely dry and smudgeproof , I sat and stitched!  The outer border was perfect for stitching (thank you Digi Darla!), and instead of completely following the design's stitch lines, I over stitched them with running stitch.

I matted the image layer with red textured card, and fixed them it directly to the white cardbase.  I wanted a bold, but CAS creation, and after all, it took ages to stitch!

This card is also entered into these challenges:

Can You Digi It? Love is In the Air (19/2)
Flourish Timeless Tuesday Put Your Heart On It (19/2)
Papertake Weekly Hearts and Flowers
Tuesday Alchemy My Heart's All a Flutter (26/2)
Clear It Out! Anything Goes Stash: Red/White (using stashed red and green thread, and red textured card)

Come and help us paint the town RED in our challenge at the Card Crafter's Circle!  Thanks for peepin'!

I did try cross stitching for my cards once but too tedious for me now .The pretty long stemmed flower lent itself to beautiful stitching to create this precious card .
