Let your Light Shine!

This week at Twist of Faith Cards, we've seen the LIGHT!  Our theme for you is Light ... the sun, candles, lamps... any source of Light.. (with our season of Advent, it is an easy one!).  Our sponsor this week is Pholkart Blessings. Sadly digital images from this artist are no more... Patti has moved onto another realm of her art, moving into other mediums.  But she is still honouring this challenge's sponsorship for us!

I love the image used in my card, because it brings to mind the placing of a candle/light in a window... which happens across so many of the world cultures. I first came across this tradition whilst living in Vancouver, Canada (quite a few years ago).  A friend, who was also the minister at the church I was attending, shared a story with me, about how her family was  back East, and how they were missing her that Christmas. They shared many phonecalls, and on the last call, on Christmas Eve, she asked them to place a candle in the front window for her, so she could be with them.  What she didn't tell them, was that she was travelling home the next afternoon after the Christmas Morning church service!  I guess that story was my inspiration for this card... snowdrifts and falling snow, with candles in the window... something we don't have with our Aussie Christmas!

After printing the image, I stitched it with stem and running stitches.  I coloured the door wreath and candle flames with glitter pens.  I then trimmed the image out.  On a white cardbase, I added a layer of 'snowflakes on blue' which has been matted with blue steel textured cardstock.  I then hand cut some snowdrifts, fixing one flat, I attached the house with foam tape for dimension, then the second snowdrift, fixed with tape and foam tape (to lift the middle of it). I fixed clear rhinestones to the corners.

I'm entering this creation into these challenges....

This is a great card. I love seeing the lights in the window. This is exactly how my Mom decorates her house every Christmas. I wish I could find a picture to show you - it's weird how much this looks like her house with the candles in the windows. Thanks for a beautiful memory!
I'm so blessed that you shared this with us at Word Art Wednesday. I really appreciate it!Blessings,
Karen
