This week the challenge at For Fun Challenges is a Mardi Gras inspired challenge.... we want you to use the colours purple, green, and gold in your creations..... tres chic, non?
I LOVE Mardi Gras, and I knew that I had to use a carnivale mask... I coloured a great image, which I will use another day, because I thought, heck, why not actually make a mask!
I had found a basic mask that was already painted, and glittered, which was a great bonus. As inexpensive as it was, it needed a lot of cleaning up, as the glitter wasn't added neatly at all... I scratched and cleaned a lot of areas, and added glitter where it was needed....then when it was to my satisfaction, I set to embellish the life back into it!
I first added a silver woven ribbon to the edge of the mask, then added green and gold rhinestones to the glittered flourishes. I decided that it would be best to be worn with ribbon ties, so I fixed those, and also fixed plumes of feathers at the top. When they were dried and set, I measured strings of beads and fixed those to the sides. The beads hang beautifully!
I hope you'll come on over to For Fun Challenges blog, and see the design teams' creations.... we have some awesome things to see! And do take on our colour challenge - Purple, Green and Gold, and share your creations with us! Thanks for peepin'!
