Viva Las Vegas!

I love Las Vegas.  When I lived in Western Canada, and travelled the USA, among the places I HAD to visit, was Las Vegas.  I thought it would be tackiest, showiest place on earth, and therefore it had to be on my must-see list.  I spent 4 days there, and had the time of my life - it was definitely a highlight of my trip, and I was so glad to see it!  I loved the shows, and the freebie shows outside the casinos.  There was so much to see that cost very little.... of course everything was priced to have you stay longer in the casinos and gamble.  I had an incredible time there, and so wish that the Eiffel Tower etc was there when I was (1994)!

Why do I yabber about Las Vegas now? I just re-lived my trip, in creating for the For Fun Challenge this week. Our sponsor is the wonderful Daisy's Digi Doodles and they are offering our challenge winner a $10 gift certificate!

The challenge for you this week at For Fun - create something with METAL ... I chose to use metallic card, and pens, but for some more fantastic inspiration, go see our Design Teams creations... they'll knock your socks off!

Ingredients:  Cardstock - Metallic Silver (Kaisercraft), Black  (Cre8tiv); Black Marker - Bic; Stardust Pens - Sakura; Rhinestones - Kaisercraft.

My original idea for this card was to keep it black, white and red.  Sort of a James Bond flavour.  Then I remembered casino chips were different colours, and I wanted to use the metallic silver card.  Anyway, the colouring was limited only to the cards, and the chips.  I used the Bic marker for the card borders, and Stardust pens on all the other spots... although they are glitter pens, the silver one gives a really great metallic look too! The hearts and symbols on the cards have a sweet glitter/shimmer, but they don't show so much here.  And of course nothing here is as glittery as the REAL Las Vegas!

I trimmed all the images, and attached them flat on the card.  I layered the chips, and used foam tape to lift/adhere the $1 chip, so it casts a neat shadow.  As casino chips have black/white edges, I added black glitter pen to create the same... it's only a little detail on them, but it really brings the chips to life with some great depth.... I hope it shows here in the picture!

Do join us for the For Fun Metal Challenge this week..... we'd love to see your creations! Thanks for peepin!

This brings back a lot of memories Pauline. Been to Vegas several times and always had a fantastic time. In fact, we took my grandson when he turned 21. Now if that wasn't a trip to see him drinking a beer, smoking a cigar like my dad, and playing blackjack......lol In all honesty, it kind of made me sick to see him grown up but that's what life is all about, growing up. At least we knew he was safe with us. "Hugs" Carol
