Welcome to my little moonbeam in the Full Moon Fever Blog Hop, hosted by Michelle Perkett Studio! Hopefully I haven't posted too early (being in a different timezone and all...) You should have arrived here from Marilyn .... if you popped in on another moonbeam, why not start at Michelle's Blog, and see everything!
Ingredients used: MPS Trick Or Treat image; Cardstock - Quill, Cre8tiv, Kaisercraft; Glaze Pen - Sakura; Rhinestones - Kaisercraft; Black Tuille, White Cut-out Organza Ribbon; Inlay Vintage Button.
I really like this image - the wee spiders remind me of the spider babies from Charlotte's Web (the original animation, not the remake with talking animals!). And because there is so little (if any) to colour, it was a challenge to work with.... when I first saw this image, I had an idea of using a broad band of ribbon or lace, and this is what I created...
I printed the image on white card, and left a large white section above the image, to allow for the ribbons. I added a double layer of black tuille, and then the cutout organza. I thought the button looked a bit lost by itself, so before securing it through the card, I added two pieces of tuille through the shank... then fanned them out like bows. I then mounted the image on black, metallic silver, and attached it to a white cardbase. I coloured over the spiders with clear glaze pen - they have a delicate gloss to them now, which doesn't show here. I added some rhinestones to the corners, and there it is! What I really like about the finished card, is that there is a clear 'meeting' of 2 styles - formal/vintage (the tuille, ribbon, button) and the casual funkiness of the text and spiders.... a complimentary clash, I think!
Here in Australia, we don't celebrate Halloween as the nothern hemisphere does.... for us, October 31 falls in our Spring, heading into summer.... so I guess that means that in the earthy calendar, we're at the wrong solstice. I guess it would be like the US celebrating Christmas in summer! It feels wrong. That being said, the media and retail marketing giants eventually did saturate us with all things beastie and ghostie, and got people to believe that we do celebrate Halloween here..... kids do try to trick or treat, against their parents better judgement of 'stranger danger' and walking the streets, and our shops are inundated with all things Halloweenie that people just don't buy. Personally, I'd be happy celebrating every worldly celebration I could... although I think my stomach would have some complaints of that.... we don't do Thanksgiving in October or November either.... although I do make a mean pumpkin high pie that I always make for Christmas.... along with other dishes that celebrate our family's heritage....
All that said, as kids my brother, sister and I would often run around at any time of the year, not just Halloween, and chant "Trick or Treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat! If you don't, I won't care, 'coz I'll pull down your underwear" .... we just sang it for the fun of it, and because we thought it was cheeky to demand food under threat of pulling down someone's pants! I don't know how close to the real Halloween chant it actually is....
For some more halloweenie goodness, I have another post Tea Party Under a Halloween Moon which you might like to visit. Your next stop on our wonderful MPS broom ride will be with Claire so take the link and enjoy the rest of the Full Moon Fever Blog Hop! Thanks for visiting!

Love your card. I like this image of Michelle's also. The use of the tulle was a great choice. You can celebrate any holiday you want - so Happy Halloween & Trick or Treat.
Love your halloween card! I would have never thought to put those elements together, but they really work well. Thanks for the idea. Trick or Treat
Pauline, I love, love your card. How creative and different. OOh I wish it was spring here in North America, because I am so NOT ready for the cold, dark winter months. Enjoy your spring. Sorry, but I have to add "TRICK OR TREAT". Have a wonderful day.

"Trick or Treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat! If you don't, I won't care, 'coz I'll pull down your underwear" Great card Pauline! I love the new Trick or Treat image! It's such a shame that Australia doesn't celebrate Halloween-it's a great excuse to eat lots of candy! lol
Thanks for sharing today!
Elegant! Black and white is just elegant, spiders or not. Fabulous card, and thanks for sharing your 'non' Trick or Treat memories!
Love what you did with the spider image and all the black...classy and spooky! Trick or treat!
Trick or Treat! Too funny! It is kind of cheeky, isn't it. We have lived where the houses are so far apart, that the kids would go to other neighborhoods where the houses are closer so they could get more candy quicker. Like what you did with the image!
I really like the black and white. The spiders are a great addition to the words - i love this image. Trick or Treat!
