One World One Heart 2011

Update: I will accept comments on this post as entries for my doorprize until Feb 17th at Midnight PST (West Coast USA) which is my time (here in Australia) 7pm on Friday Feb 18th. Please read on...

Welcome to my blog... I'm so happy you stopped by!

I'm participating in the 2011 One World One Heart blog event, and this is my post (please use the above link to return to our host's event information!)  I may periodically update this post through the event, and I will add those edits in italics.

The full particpant list can be found here...(there are many time zones participating,  a lot of work for the Organiser to check!)...

I'm Pauline, a greying 40 something - 42 actually! I live in the south eastern state of Victoria, Australia, in small town in the state's west.... near beautiful mountains, and vast farmlands, and few hours from both beautiful coastline, and riverland. I have been a 'foster' mum to a special needs child for 8 years now... she has multiple disabilities, and is now a young adult. Life is never dull, often exhausting and confusing, but filled with excitement and blessings.

I love crafting. It was bound to happen to me - my Mum has always been crafting, knitting or sewing, my grandmothers were dressmakers and milliners. And they were also very crafty! I spent hours playing with fabric and buttons as a little girl, and still love pouring my fingers through buttons! My first loves were crafting and stitching, and now I love beading, jewellery making, cardmaking and scrapbooking too. I happily combine fabrics, lace, buttons, beads, stitches, paper, flowers, photos, anything that moves me. I love how the tables turn and I now have my mum crazy about scrapbooking!

I love that blogging brings us closer together - we can 'meet' like-mind and new friends from all round the world, in the twingling of an eye.... much quicker than writing a letter to a new penfriend, as I did when I was a child! It is truly wonderful to see photos of people and their creations, and hearing about life in other countries, no matter how different, or similar to my own. I had many penfriends as a child, I just loved receiving mail.... I still do! And love meeting new friends. No matter how long people stay in our lives, just a fleeting moment or contact can be a joy, and create precious memories.... even better if it creates a long lasting friendship!

I decided that I would make my "doorprize" for this One World One Heart event a piece of handcrafted jewellery. And here is the piece that the lucky visitor will receive:

It is a selection of round beads in pale blue hues... German Glass Pearls, small Blue Glass, and Irridescent Rounds, with a silver Bali styled flower.  The beaded length is approx. 44cms long (not including the pendant) and has an extender chain as well.  The doorprize will be posted out by February 20, and it may take a week or more for my prize to arrive at your mailbox (I will email the intended recipient when the prize is posted). Please make sure you comment on my post, leave your blog address so that I may visit you, and an email address so I can contact you directly if you've won my door prize!

I hope your experience in the One World One Heart event is a memorable and positive one!

Hello there, great to have the opportunity to visit you during this event. I was smiling as I read your post, because not only do I love to sit and run my hands through the buttons sat on my desk, but I remember doing so to my mum and grandma's boxes as a child. My mum is very creative (as were her parents and my dad), her recent sewing is on blog and is also now talking about trying out scrapbooking and cardmaking as I am mainly a papercrafter.

Would love to welcome you to my corner of the world:
