Flower Card

Hubby is watching the Rose Bowl at the moment, and I naturally opted for creating cards.  Although it isn't a Rose, it's a flower, and I love the image!  It's the 2010 SNB Flower image and it exudes all the yumminess that a summer flower does (this is coming from me, a definite Spring/Autumn/Winter Lover!).  Although I'm not much of a hot weather lover, I love the flowers, the blue skies and summer cool breezes. So that's what inspired this card....

Ingredients used: SNB Digi Image; Cardbase - DCWV (Linen Closet); Chalks - Pebbles Inc; Stardust Pens - Sakura; Glitter Glue - Papermania; Chalk Ink - Colorbox; Rhinestones - Kaisercraft...

I created a background of the flower by repeating the image in two sizes.  I also printed a larger version of the image, twice, and set them aside, while I coloured the background with chalks, and stardust pens for the flower centres.  I distressed the edge with aqua blue ink for a summmery look to tie in with the patterned cardbase.  I adhered the floral background to the cardbase, and added the rhinestones.  I coloured the petals of one large image, with pearly chalk in a pale yellow. I then coloured the centre of the second image with orange stardust pen, and trimmed both images.  I glued the trimmed flower centre to the whole flower, for extra strength .....when it was dry, I rolled the petals to curve them as a real flower.  I adhered the very centre of the flower to the card flat, with DS tape, then kept the curved petals lifted by using foam tape (closer to the centre, so that the petal curves remain secure). The edges of the main flower were left 'distressed' and rough.

I added gold glitter glue to the stamen - originally Iwas going to bead the stamen, but as I lifted the image off the page, I changed tack! I am displaying the card sentiment free - it would be a great all purpose card, or for a birthday....I'll see what occasion comes up first!
