Do You Stack Up... Buttons

Yay! Our first Challenge at the Do You Stack Up Challenge Blog! Welcome... Welcome... Welcome!

Click here to visit Di's Digis!

Our challenge theme is CUTE AS A BUTTON ... so use buttons on/in your creation! The Design Team got to play with images from  Di's Digi Downloads, and created some amazing inspiration for you.... go see!  Here is my creation for you using the Back In Ten image!

Ingredients: Cardstock - Vintage Core'dinations; Chalks - Pebbles Inc; Stardust Pens - Sakura;  Glaze Pen - Sakura; Markers - Le Plume; Chalk Inks - Colorbox; foam tape; Waterproof Glue - Omni Stick; buttons, buttons & more buttons!

All the work in this card is in the image.  There is no matting or layers as I would normally use.  I printed two images.  With the first, I trimmed out the background, or the sky between the trees, behind the bear, and some of the leaves.  I coloured this image with chalks, and picked out details such as the hammock rope, leaves and the bear's nose to colour with stardust, markers, and glaze pen. I used different pens and greens in the leaves to create depth and highlights.  I overlaid this coloured image over the 'naked' image, and coloured in the remainder - the sky,  the sprouting leaves, basically anything that poked through.  I adhered the two images together with DS tape, the trimmed one on top, and used foam tape underneath the bear to make the hammock appear to swing and have a little depth (it is adhered, it doesn't move).  I carried the chalking of the grass and trees towards the edge of the card, and then inked the edges with antique gold and brown chalk inks.

I then set out to create a frame around the image made entirely of buttons. Out came the heavy duty Omni Stick glue (love that stuff for heavy objects!) and my vintage button box.  I cut the shanks off the pearl grey buttons used in the corners, but all the other buttons are flatbacks.  When all this was dry and touchable, I used a good heavy duty DS tape to adhere it to the cardbase. C'est fin!

Back to our challenge details...you can create anything you want, as long as you adhere to the theme of the challenge (all details are at the DYSU blog in the sidebar).  This is the grand opening of grand openings for blogs .... we have ELEVEN amazing sponsors providing prizes for this our first challenge!!
